Bentonville postponed

This was to be an outdoor event right? From a virus standpoint less risky than going to work or a movie, so this does seem an "over-the-top" response. Having said that, I understand that the venue needs to expect a minimum attendance to justify time and expenses committed, so our venues are basically "over the barrel," yes? Isn't that the real issue here?

I just learned that apparently Louisiana has just shut down all events in that State over 250 people including reenactments in Louisiana's busiest reenacting season. Lot of brothers in arms just made the drive to an event in Pineville, LA to be told it was cancelled. I'm guessing that shuts down Port Hudson and Pleasant Hill from today's standpoint.

I would be crestfallen, especially since I was planning on making a return to my "home" reenactment at Pleasant Hill this year after getting fed up 5 years ago, but issues related to family, especially a very sneaky 85 year old grandmother in my care, already torpedoed my reenacting for yet another season.

Just means I've got more time to make more money and improve my impression! There's a silver lining in everything to me.

It was out of their hands, they wanted to do it but the state stopped any large events.

canada is closing it border to the united states . so it looks like not much will happen this year. I am really worried about the future of this hobby.

I wouldn't worry myself, too many dedicated reenactors still around to bring it all crashing down. This to shall pass, and all its doing to the community is breathing new life into it. Pen up and keep reenactors against their will from the events, or reenactors who've been burnt out on the hobby like this, everyone will swarm back to the field when events start going again.

Least that's my view on it. A good reminder of how this hobby can slip away every once in a while is a healthy thing.
