What is this? Battlefield Find (Junk/Modern?)

Ok folks... I haven't a clue what this could be. It was recovered from a northern battlefield in an area that has had little to no modern activity other than foot traffic.

Thoughts?

That is a bit rough. Perhaps some one will recognize it.

It is very rough and I have been digging many years and I have never seen anything CW related like it.
