So far, I know of two books that cover aspects of the brigade:
- The Bloody Thirteenth by Dick Stanley
- Barksdale's Charge: The True High Tide of the Confederacy, July 2, 1863 by Philip Thomas Tucker

It appears Tucker's book is a bit exaggerated in its praise of the brigade, while Stanley's book is more limited in its scope, as it's a documentary history of a regiment. Does anyone know if there's a brigade history in the works somewhere?

For a soldier's journal, you should try "A Life For the Confederacy" about Private(later Lt) Robert A. Moore of the 17th Mississippi Regiment.
