Vegetables Asparagus Toast

Ingredients:

asparagus stalks​
salted water​
sliced bread​
butter​

Instructions:

Tie the stalks in small bunches, boil them in a very little salted water until tender; toast as many slices of bread as there are bunches of asparagus, butter them while hot, lay a bunch on each slice of toast, add a little butter to the water, and pour it over the whole.​

I love asparagus. I had plants in the garden for almost 15 years before they petered out. It's loaded with purines, so go light with the servings if you are prone to gout attacks. The fresh stuff picked in the morning is tops. What you get in the grocery store is not comparable in any way.
