Artillery implements!

I dug that one back in the 80's at Shiloh. It was made by Boyle & Gamble. Here is a complete one.

That's a great find. It looks like the maker used a French 1830, not a US 1832 weapon, as his model except that he used iron (or steel) where the French had used brass. I wonder where he got the French example from.

I was just thinking, do you all think it might be possible that the Confederate war effort manufactured copies of the standard U.S. Army sponge buckets and grease buckets rather than try to reinvent the wheel?

Can you give me the dimensions of the Table of fire shown inside your Confederate Limber lid in post #3? I am looking at getting one reproduced and want to make sure my dimensions are right as part of a display

I can try but the fellow selling it admits in his description of the item (the limber) that the table of fire has been added to it post-war. I would imagine it's the correct dimensions for one though. Let me see.

The most certainly did use the same designs for many items. If you look at the Confederate Field Artillery Manual (at least the ones I have seen), they are reprints of the Barry Hunt and French field artillery manual use by the US Army with the pages that referred to the US Government replaced.

Not sure if you are aware of this, but most of the artillery manufactures stock reproductions of the table of fire.

After I posted this I found that Dixie gun works sells a batch that covers the following weapons

Can anyone identify which artillery pieces these implements went with?

Look at how small the end of the ladle is. Is this maybe a ladle for a 6-pdr.? And see the short sponge-rammer all the way on the left? Do you think that's maybe for a mountain howitzer, to be compact and save space?
