Artillery Demonstration - Gettysburg Reenactment

Great vid but to long in getting a rd out.

@reading48 That would likely be the legendary Tom Holbrook. During many living histories in front of the PA Monument with the National Regiment, Tom would introduce us to the spectators prior to the firing demonstrations. While gesturing towards the flimsy caution tape strung between a few metal posts, Tom would say in his Georgia drawl, "your Federal government has spared no expense to insure your safety during the discharge of these potentially deadly weapons." It always got a laugh. We heard that Ranger Holbrook recently retired, but cannot confirm that.

That would be the Guy Yes that was his introductory speech to the crowd... Thank You for the info..

YouTube shenanigans. It seems the 1st Amendment is optional.
Literally, the original video posting was deleted by said organization. There are a number of strange issues with my channel as the time-based analytics do not make sense and it is clear that several of the videos are being removed from recommendation lists. Oh well, I will keep publishing until they pry the GoPro from my cold dead fingers.

Ditto, Tom has always introduced the Rebel unit Demos at Pitzers Woods the same way. Really did a great job & will be missed if he did retire. Only time I heard Tom upset was when someone portrayed Fremantle (of all people)with a surgical/medical reenactment unit & tried to fly a huge Union Jack 🇬🇧 near the PA monument, of all places! So many things wrong with that! 🤯

Poor Ranger Holbrook, "No, no, no…."

BTW I always have enjoyed his lectures on "if these things could talk" based on actual battlefield relics. Good stuff 👍

you can see them on YouTube but it just says video unavailable when I tried sharing a link.

Reenactments are fun and make noise, but artillery sounds different when there's a cannon ball coming out of it! Some of our guys go to reenactments for demonstrations but we compete with artillery live fire at our range.
