Impressions Are these accurate?

A good friend gave me this confederate cartridge box and cap box. Are these accurate examples of what was issued? Any opinions are appreciated.

They look like they are supposed to resemble russet color leather gear. Which is the color my unit has. Look at my avatar photo and you can see the russet color. The pieces you have look more like burgundy. I would say if you oiled them up they would change color and you could use them.
 
Thanks guys, I agree that they seem to be a reddish color. On the plus side, they are very well made and sturdy. Not to mention,free.
