I'm newer to the forums and I would like to get into reenacting. I'm under 18 and was wondering if there are any groups recruiting in the Cincinnati area. Thanks!
The nearest one I know of was in Columbus. Strangely enough, they represented a Mississippi unit. I think thr 7th Infantry but I am not sure. I used to post on another website and another poster was a member of that unit.
Welcome to the forum. Are you looking to go Federal or Confederate? There's a few Reenactors on here in your area, hopefully they'll see this and chime in. @drezac comes to mind, he's in the artillery and I'm sure could give you some info on the area as well as @Western Reserve Volunteer.

The Army of the Ohio appears to be an umbrella organization for several units in Ohio and nearby states. I know nothing about them, other than what is on their website. It may be worthwhile using the Google to research them. Just google Army of the Ohio reenactors.
We are a living history group focused on the German-American experience during the war. We are based in Cincinnati.
We don't generally do battle reenactments but rather heritage and historical programs mostly in town or locally. We can provide uniforms and such for those starting out, and only ask that the focus while at our events remain on researched German-American impressions.
If you're interested send me a message here. You can also find us on Facebook, and our website is www.ninthohio.com.
I'm Capt. Duane Rezac of the 1st Ohio State House Light Artillery. While we are based out of Columbus, we have members from all parts of the state. We work with the 4 original cannon on the Ohio State House lawn, in addition to doing events with privately owned guns. We typically do 3-4 reenacting events per year, and also do a recreation of when Lincoln's body was on repose in the State House Rotunda along with an educational encampment ( both are the same day) where schools attend for field trips. We also do cannon firings as requested by the State House. My signature line has the link to our info on the Ohio State House's web site.
