well it happened back in april on the anniversery of appomatox. we were there to rememebr and honor the north carolina soldiers that made the sacrifice to give the yankees one last stand (north carolina boys wont cheap they wont giving it up easy) and to the men who paroled there. me and my buddy who was going up there with me had gotten to the park about 45 mintues before sundown. A few guys had showen up who were from my unit by night fall everyone had set up there sents and bed rolls. my captain came back from making a telephone call saying that it was gonna start raining by 12 that night. well me and my first sargent decided me and him were gonna sleep in a barn near were we camped. me and him had gotten into the barn just in time 10 minutes after we got in the barn the bottom fell out. i was a asleep in mintues. i woke up to the sound of something hitting the barn hard figure it was just the wind closed my eyes then i heard what sounded like heel plates hitting the ground i figured it was someone in our unit who was coming to join us but then the door to the barn cracked open just big enough for someone to slip in but no one came in and the door shut. then i ehard the heel plates inside the barn by now im freaking out i finally raised up and said if your a confederate so am i and the foot steps stopped and i didnt hear them the rest of the time i was there.
