I got this Calvary saber off of E-bay about 10 years ago. It has no markings on it at all but it looks like it has a German made blade. But the owner of this sword had the grip and hand guard completely covered in leather. who ever covered it was a master craftsman as the stitching is of the highest quality. Age has caused the leather to shrink expositing the brass hand guard. the grip is highly polished from years of handling. Just wondering if any of you have seen this done before ?

Does give it a naval cutlass look.
