I think I asked this when I first signed up back in 2011, but does anyone have any ancestors that were in the Second Texas? I have only run across so few (like none) in the whole time I have become interested in the Second Texas. It would be fun to see if they have any good stories. But after Shiloh, Corinth, and Vicksburg, there may not have been too many left to make descendants! Anyway, if you are out there give me a shout.

Hi Vicksburger,

My 3xgrgf was James M. Laprad, Lieutenant. Co. I, 6th TX Cav (Stone's Regiment 2 Texas cavalry).

However, I'm guessing you are looking for infantry, not cavalry. Either way, no stories were passed down.

Chellers: Was your 3xgrgf ever in the Vicksburg area? I think there are some grave markers for 2nd Texas Cav. in the City Cemetery there at Vicksburg.
