Anybody on the field?

I was there, today for the anniversary of Pickett's Charge. It was interesting to see hundreds of people crossing that field in the hot sun.

Well, I guess that'll be the last time I ask that. If people are going to aebitrarily move threads away from the audience they were for, why bother?

Heck no. If I'd been on any field of remembrance today, it would have been Vicksburg. I'm not saying that to stir up trouble, so please understand that. I'm just saying it because I am not one of those "Gettysburg-centric" Civil War enthusiasts.

In truth, I was at a local cemetery today, and I found an Ohio veteran buried there, whom I had never seen before. I posted him on our boards. Gettysburg was a terrible loss of life for both armies, but my newly found veteran saw his service, too. He was captured at Brice's Crossroads and was a prisoner at Andersonville. ...and I found him in the same cemetery as one of Forrest's best cavalry commanders. I see irony in that.
