Thought this was interesting and post it here. It's out of my price range unless I hit it big on some scratch-off lottery tickets. Someone near me is selling off an original 10-pounder Parrott rifle. Supposedly used at first Bull Run, captured by the confederates, and used until 1865. Here is a picture of the ad and I'll include a link to it. I'm just surprised something as historically valuable as this is just listed on Craigslist. Usually something like this should be up at an auction.

The 18th Virginia Infantry captured a battery of rifles at First Manassas and turned the guns on the retreating Federals. Perhaps this is one of the guns they captured.

If it was captured by the Confederates, would that not raise the value? Just asking out of curiosity.

It would but not worth $200K. Plus it would have to have ROCK SOLID provenance.

I almost bought this Wiard with caisson for $40K. This original CS 9lber and carriage and I know where it was stationed went for $320K. The parrott is not worth near what they are asking. Folks can ask for the moon

Is the carriage original on the 2.9 Parrott? I'm assuming it's not. It almost sounds like the tube only is for sale

I'm not sure, it's probably a repro carriage. But for 200 grand it better come with it. Otherwise you'll have to display it like how they did the cannon barrels on little round top during the late 1800s. Just balancing on a couple of rocks
