Unlikely. Shirt is not a cadet uniform.

The "robe-like" appearance of the "uniform" makes it look more like a costume, perhaps the photographer carried in his case?

Not unusual for Confederates to have home made shirts (sometimes referred as "battle shirts") due to paucity of official uniforms, especially out west.

The pleated home made shirts not uncommon on early Confederate soldiers. Collar makes it look like something hung over his shirt.

I've never seen a shirt quite like that before, its very interesting.

It almost have a naval look to it. Period boat clubs often wore uniforms based on Navy uniforms.

It looks to me more like a sort of "hunting shirt" with a cape. The collar itself is a band-collar, with the cape attached around the base of it. Have not seen the like before.

THe collar makes it appear the stars are throw over the head which suggests parade or circus. Hat looks military though.

"BAND!" Band gets my vote. I was in marching band in high school and saw lots of different uniforms.
