Ambulance Corps Armbands?

That's the first time I've heard of this. Although, my memory is not really the best.
Yes, from other shops here, I've been told they are not running their businesses the same way, are not well-liked for doing business, and are contemplating shutting down.

I've bought stuff from them over the years and never had an issue. In fact I just ordered a set of buttons from them Monday. A few hours after I placed the order I got a message they shipped. They were in my mailbox yesterday. Can't get any better than that. I haven't heard anything about them going away, would be a shame if they did.

From the online ¨Museum of everyday life.¨ I don´t think it would be very hard to make a pretty good hatband, especially because you´re only making one and not trying to make them in scale. A piece of red wool. Piece of white fabric. Stencil. Black paint. Weekend build.
I'm having no luck finding 'period' acceptable securing pins, anywhere...

You need something that looks like this (without the beads and bangles):
I've been exploring various types of accessories that could serve a similar purpose, such as plain brooch pins, kilt pins, or any simple designs that might resemble what they could have used. It's unfortunate that we don't have an actual example we could reference.

I wouldn´t break the bank buying them either - realistically they won´t show unless you take off your hat and leave it upside down.

It just occurred to me: if you´re really concerned about the authenticity, you could simply pin it to your hat with straight pins. They used them for everything back then. Just bury the sharp end slightly in the fabric (if they´re on the outside) or in the hat felt (if you start them on the inside) and they won´t stick you and will stay in reasonably well.

Here we go, I will be at it again with the 163rd battle reenactment is coming up in a week at the Daniel Lady Farm here in Gettysburg.

I will be running around distributing ice and water, just like I did last year.

Is anyone else planning to attend?
