The lady who was presented the Medal is Helen Loring Ensign. Ensign is Alonzo Cushing's closest living relative and is descended from a sister (Margaret Smith Loring) of Alonzo's mother, Mary Smith Cushing.

Great story and posthumous congratulations to Lon Cushing. Personally, I think it would have been nice if Cushing's medal presented would have been a Civil War Era MOH.
