Did I forget to add cottage to the title?

Grant's Cottage, where US Grant wrote his memoirs, has gone off the grid and is now the first New York State park facility to do so. Grant might not be that impressed since the cottage was also off the grid in 1885 when he lived there.

Thanks for sharing this. Interestingly enough the claim could actually be made that Grant Cottage was "on the grid" in 1885. There was no larger grid at the time of course, but a generator (Edison dynamo) at the resort did power about 200 electric lights on the property and in the interior of Grant Cottage. Both systems could be regarded as microgrids though I suppose, although only one is renewable. All I know is that after feeding a gas generator for a month during a long-term power outage, I prefer the solar array system.
