Seeking information on my g-g-g-grandfather, Alexander W Rowe. He was Captain of Company F, 9th (Ward's) Tennessee Calvary CSA. He was captured on 5 April 1863 at Lebanon Kentucky and sent to Ft. Monroe. Any further information would be greatly appreciated.

The muster sheets on footnote are a little confusing. Some are for a private, and some are for a captain - but both were pow's. The transfers between prisons don't make much sense either.

Do you know if he was the only Alexander W. Rowe in that company?

Yes he was atuttle. I believe the private was Alex E Rowe and he's Alex W Rowe (the Captain). The 9th was also known by other names which adds to the confusion I believe.

OK - makes sense then. Do you have his muster sheets? I can email them to you if you like. There are definitely 12, maybe more - but some may be for Alex E and some may be for Alex W.
