I enjoyed your "side rant", because i've had similar experiences, although not bugle related. It's not just me then
So anyway, here she is. Came today. looks good, i reckon. I was trying out a few calls on my old copper British model bugle, and my wife told me she could hear me at the end of our road, a hundred or so yards away, and i was indoors with the windows closed (it's -16 Celsius out just now), so i think i'll not play it much this evening. Got to keep the neighbors sweet. Oh, and the missus, since i just bought a banjo hehehehe...

Nice looking bugle! It shows field use, which is good--gives it character.

All you need now is a set of bagpipes to accompany your bugle and banjo, and you'll endear yourself to the neighbors for years to come! (Throw some fife in there too, just to make sure they hear everything.)

I did actually buy a chanter, but then i joined the local national guard band as a percussionist, and started playing Tuba as well, so i think i've filled the quota of neighbor irritating noise. Still, no complaints so far. I'm loving my banjo, and the bugle sounds sweet. I had to change the mouthpiece though. Now to persuade the Bandmaster to let me play Assembly next time we do the changing of the guard at the royal palace in Stockholm
