Abraham Lincoln Trees

A long time ago a man carved Lincoln's image in three trees. Only one tree was left when this photo was taken. I believe the New Salem mentioned below is in Illinois and not in Massachusetts.

Yes, New Salem in Illinois was Lincoln's old stomping ground. There is a New Salem in Mass. but I don't know that it has any connection with Lincoln

There is a Lincoln's New Salem State Historical Site in Menard County, Illinois, between Petersburg and Springfield. It is a reconstructed village as the original of Lincoln's time did not survive.
