For those who are interested and will be in the Chicago area, the Abraham Lincoln Association is holding a symposium on Original and Primary Resources that is free and open to the public on Saturday, June 17, 2023, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Cantigny Park in Wheaton, Illiinois. This is in the western suburbs. A car is necessary as it is not within walking distance of the UP-West Metra (commuter rail) stations in Wheaton or Winfield. While the symposium is free, parking is $10.

Cantigny Park is the estate of the late Colonel Robert R. McCormick who was owner and editor of the Chicago Tribune and the grandson of Joseph Medill, the owner and editor of the Chicago Tribune in the 1860s. Attractions include the mansion, gardens, a golf course, picnic area and the First (Infantry) Division Museum with tank park - in case you have family with you. It is a lovely, well-maintained venue that I consider to be quite safe (should that be a concern).
