This is my 4th Great grandfathers house in Walton Kentucky. Popular house it is owned by the town now thankgod. I am glad I found this threw my ancestory and Find A Grave. Abner L Gaines had 11 children counting my 3rd great Grand father William H Gaines who had owned a lot of land near Hot Springs Arkansas who was in charge of Gaines Landing who was a flat boat worker during the civil war. He was a teacher and farmer. He also built the Gaines Block in Hot Springs Arkansas. Which is no longer there anymore. The house was used for a tavern and stagecoach house. He is a lot like my late grandfather who like to tinker on things in their basements and make projects together. William H Gaines was made a honor title of Major for freeing his slaves to the Goverment. He had to regain his citizenship after the war which many plantation owners did after the war. I was really surprise it was still standing. I have a original photo of William H Gaines in my grandfathers house today. This house is part of a historical trailer markers of the state of Kentucky. The Gaines family moved out there after the American Revolutionary War. 9 people died there threw out the history of the house. Very interesting history of what my ancestors witness at this time of American History.
