A 'Young' General

Even though I am advanced in years, I know very little about the Civil War. The most famous of combatants are often mentioned and I sometimes think the whole war was fought by a handful of famous Generals and officers.
As I delve into the vastness of the involvement, I discover hundreds of names that are not recognized by me nor yet by history. Here is a photo (1904) of six such individuals.

Keep in mind that the "generals" pictured are generals in the United Confederate Veterans (U.C.V.) which had nothing to do with their wartime ranks or service! However, the "bible" on the subject, the two volumes by Ezra Warner Generals in Blue and Generals in Gray, list no fewer than 425 Confederate generals and over 600 Union ones, not counting a dozen or more created by Kirby Smith in the Trans-Mississippi Confederacy who were never confirmed by the Confederate Senate and many more Union colonels who were mustered out of service as generals by brevet.
