A north Carolina Curiousity

Dave Brt kindly sent me a copy of the latest issue of The Knapsack ,Raleigh Civil War Round Table in case there was anything new .
there wasn't but many errors !
It however have this, titled CSS Neuse on the Neuse river.
Enquiries elicited the response that it's a wooden model of 1864. Ok, but what's with the big horn?
Having a funny mind :
1) You folks make your own jokes
2) I see a crewman at the other end shouting "HOOT" or singing southern songs into the mouthpiece.
3) He is performing an early version of the vaudeville act Le Petomane. (Google that to get the joke).

I enlarged the image as far as I could, definitely a wooden model quite well made, and not a toy. The person who made this image has done a good job on it, although How I don't know - one for our photographic experts.
