On.Dec. 16 we went to a special Christmas event at Bennett Place in Durham, N.C. It was here that General Joseph Johnston and Major General William Sherman met on April 25, 1865. This was a farm owned by the Bennetts. Johnston surrendered to Sherman. More than 89,270 Confederate soldiers were surrendered.

They were having Christmas event at the farm. There were reenactors, both soldiers and civilians at the event. They were preparing food in the kitchen of the farm.

This pudding was one of foods prepared.

"One pound of flour, two pounds of suet, one pound of currants, one pound of plums, eight eggs, two ounces of candies peel, almonds and mixed spice according to taste. Boil gently for seven hours."

This was a tasty treat for families at this time.
