I knew nothing about Ambrotype photos until today. There were two that were for sale at an antique mall and not knowing anything about Ambro I just bought one. I have done a reverse photo search and have not been able to identify the gentleman in the picture. I am humbly asking for help positively identifying this gentleman. Thanks a million!!! Jonathan

Welcome! It will be tough to identify the man. I have similar photos of my own family members, but I cannot determine their identity.
Do you have any more information, starting with where the mall is located and whether the seller has a permanent shop there or displays at various sites? That might tell more about whether it is a local gentleman. You didn't mention any marking on the frame.
Regardless, it is a great artifact! Thanks for sharing and don't give up the search!

Well, getting it posted is a good step. You never know who will see it, a long shot but odder things have happened. It's always a puzzle to me why so many families orphan photos like this. Quite a few on Ebay plus we see them in antique shops all the time.

It's a great image, thanks for bringing him here.
