By looking at the indoor bonnets, they appear to be more for fashion than for use outdoors. They would not keep the sun off of your head, they would not keep out the cold. They appear to be quite delicate in their construction.
This type of bonnet appeared regularly at church or a social event, (if the weather was fair). It's fun to look back and see how many bonnets were owned during the war. It appears that bonnets were the first things that many women did without as the war pushed forward. Many women refashioned what bonnets they had on hand. Thanks for sharing this.
