My sister asked me a question I could not answer. I thought of everyone on here, and im hoping someone might be able to shed some light on this.
She asked about a story that involved a church and its congregation during the war. The story goes that after the service a female worshiper stood up and asked all the men to leave. They closed the doors on the their way out and she began to explain her reasoning. She had been to the battle front and seen the sick and wounded. She explained that there was a dire need for bandages and asked all the women to remove their petty coats. They promptly did and began tearing them into to bandage.
My sister said she remembers few details about the story. And i cannot recall every reading about this event. Or maybe this sort of thing happened often during the war. Does this story ring any bells?
