I would like to challenge anyone to cite the article within the U.S. Constitution, amendment thereto, or law that states that secession was an unlawful or illegal act. Abraham Lincoln used the 1792/1795 militia act, yet secession was a legal act, hence there was no rebellion or insurrection to justify his actions. Rebellion means to go against lawful authority, however there was no law against secession.
