Lt. Woodcock of the 9th Kentucky US Infantry, who we mentioned not long ago, had an ironic moment shortly after his enlistment in the US Army. He discovered that he was a deserter from the Confederate Army, though he never officially joined. "If I ever were to be caught by the rebel authorities I was to be tried as a deserter, for at the first draft two months after I had been in the Federal Army, I was drafted.
