According to and cited by wikipedia, James Albert Hard (July 15, 1843 – March 12, 1953) was the last verified living Union combat veteran of the American Civil War and the third-to-last verified veteran overall; only two drummer-boys Frank H. Mayer and Albert Woolson post-deceased him without seeing combat. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Hard

His regiment was the 32nd New York Volunteer Infantry Regiment. According to his obituary, Hard served at First Bull Run, Antietam, and Chancellorsville. http://www.nycivilwar.us/jahard.html.

Who was the last surviving Union combat veteran and what regiment or regiment's did they serve with?
