Another lost day, I'm making up for it with a double question for the weekend...

Tonight's Civil War Trivia Question Value: 10 points (each), 1 bonus point (total) goes to the player with the first answer. This question will be open until Sunday between 9 and 10pm EDT, when another question will be posted! As usual: Please do not post your answers anywhere but in this forum!
.
#9 Name the last sailing warship constructed for the United States Navy.

#10 Who was in command of this ship as of March 11, 1862?
.
Post your answer below. Good Luck!

Trivia will not be posted on the following night: Thursday, March 28, 2013

This looks like a question that could be fun to spend time researching. It's good that everybody gets until Sunday night to do so.

Unfortunately, I may not have much chance to do so, since I'm going to be out of town and away from my computer starting tomorrow and possibly until next Tuesday or Wednesday. Just wanted to let everybody know, so you don't start wondering why I'm not grading answers or posting scores.

USS Constellation

Edit - You get credit for one correct answer.

Hoosier

9) The US Sloop-of-War Constellation (she's also the last Civil War vessel afloat.)
10) Commodore Henry Thatcher

"(T)he USS Constellation was built in 1854 and is the last all-sail warship built by the US Navy."

"On 11 March 1862 Constellation sailed from Portsmouth under the command of Commodore Henry K. Thatcher. Arriving on 19 April, Constellation spent two years (April 1862 to May 1864) engaged in patrolling, at one point assisting in blockading the Confederate warship Sumter, abandoned by her captain and officers except for a token, caretaker crew, at Gibraltar, and later participating in the attempt to prevent the Confederate Navy from taking possession of the British-built steamer Southerner in Italy for use as a commerce raider."
