Henry B. Walthall March 16, 1878 - June 17, 1936 was an American stage and film actor. He appeared as the "Little Colonel " in D.W. Griffithn's: The Birth of a Nation (1915).
What was his relationship to the civil war?

Henry Brazeale Walthall was born on a plantation somewhere near Shelby County, Alabama on March 16, 1878. His father was Junius Leigh Walthall, a native of Virginia, former Captain in the Confederate Army, later involved in Alabama politics.

ALSO-
Walthall County, MS. is named after Henry's uncle, Edward Cary Walthall (April 4, 1831 – April 21, 1898), a general in the Confederate States Army during the American Civil War and a post-bellum United States Senator from Mississippi. During the Civil War, he entered the Confederate Army as a lieutenant, and was promoted to lieutenant colonel, colonel, brigadier general, and finally a major general.

Henry's father, Junius Leigh Walthall, was a Virginia native who served as captain in the Confederate Army and, later, became a highly respected figure in Alabama politics (Williamson, pp. 83-84).

Unless there was more than one Junius L Walthall in the CSA, Junius was captain of Company E, 62nd Alabama Infantry, so designated August 6th, 1864. He had been elected captain of Company E when it was a portion of "Lockhart's Battalion" (1st Alabama Reserves) on January 18th 1864? He took part in the battle of Beaseley's Station, July 1864 - sometimes known as Chehaw Station which is where they disembarked). [He may have been Lt. in the 12th Alabama before this]

He enlisted in Talladega with Company E. He was captured later in the war and was paroled in May 1865 at Talladega, coincidentally?

Sherman's Horsemen: Union Cavalry Operations in the Atlanta Campaign By David Evans mentions him in the Rousseau's Raid chapter(s).

His father was Junius L Walthall who was a Capt in the 62nd Alabama Inf and later the sheriff of Shelby county.
Another GOOD question from the Great State of Alabama. And once again if I don't get it right I will be shunned as he was from Shelby county where I live.
