I actually know this one. He was Karl Gerhardt and his largest claim to fame is his GK Warren statue on LRT at Gettysburg. He also did Stannard's Vermont monument at Gettysburg among other CW related monuments.

He is sculptor Karl Gerhardt. Born in 1853, he was too young to actively take part in the Civil War, but he created the death mask of Pres. and former Union General U.S. Grant and was the sculptor of the G. K. Warren monument at Gettysburg. I think that should be connection enough.
