hello, my name is john and i would like to greet everyone in the civil war forum. i especially would like to hear from anyone who has info on my civil war ancestors or of their units or their ucv or gar camps and posts. my southern ancestor is brig gen robert lowry who was also governor of the state of miss. my union ancestor is pvt samuel watkins of the 31st ill inf reg who was killed in action at ft donalson. if you know any relatives of either of these individuals who might offer more insight about these individuals, drop me a line and say hello. i have a bit of info on pvt watkins and more on lowry. i would be curious to find other relatives of each. i am also looking for obtaining personal papers of gen lowry and as well as his tenure as gov and also as director of the state of miss ucv. my union ancestor's gar unit was post 219 in pinckneyville, il. i would like to seek any memorabilia from that post or of any soldier from his unit the 31st ill. hope to hear from you soon. thanks, john
