He served as a volunteer in the Illinois Militia for 2.5 months during the Black Hawk War. Served as a Captain first and then when his company mustered out, he re-enlisted as a private in another company. Was in early 20s. No action.

The Black Hawk War

Abraham Lincoln owned two parcels of land in the state of Iowa but never visited either one. He received these tracts from the U.S. government for service as an Illinois volunteer in the Black Hawk War of 1832. It was not until the 1850s that Congress authorized land bounties to the war veterans. Lincoln received 40 acres following the act of September 28, 1850, and 120 acres after the act of March 3, 1855.

Just wanted to reply Black Hawk war, but I can already see everybody elses answers!
Am I too late now? Is this question already closed?

Edit - The first seven questions will be not be counted in the scoring for March.

I think (crossing fingers) that all the bugs and glitches have been straightened out, so beginning with question # 9, I should be able to score the questions as has been done in the past.
