This Hill has had many names over the years. Some of them were Rock Hill, High Knob, Sugar Loaf Hill, and Broad Top Summit. One resident purchased the eastern face of this Hill in 1840. Another resident owned the western face of the Hill purchasing it in 1858. In 1863, who were the two owners of this Hill of many names?

Little Round Top

Edit - The question asked for the names of the hill's owners, rather than for the name by which the hill has become commonly known.

The hill has become famous under the name Little Round Top near Gettysburg, PA
The owners were Ephraim Hanaway (western face) and Jacob Weikert (eastern face).

Phew these are really hard questions! I was hoping for an easier one like who shot Lincoln or who is buried in Grants tomb.

Edit - I agree, library guy, we have had some toughies this week.

Keep trying. Sooner or later, there'll be one or two that will be easier.

Actually there were three owners of the hill that eventually became known as Little Round Top. I have noted the two cited in the OP in bold font. Jacob Weikert purchased 82 acres on the eastern side in 1840. Ephraim Hanaway purchased 29 acres on the north and west sides of LRT in 1858. A third individual, George Bushman purchased 20 acres on the north east side in 1861.

"Between 1824 and 1863, the Hoke tract was sold several times and subdivided (see Figures 2.47-2.49 Pre-Civil War Period Plan). On the eve of the battle, the slopes of Little Round Top were held within three tracts: a 20-acre tract purchased by George Bushman in 1861 as part of his property on Taneytown Road, which included the northeast slope of Little Round Top; an 82-acre tract purchased by Jacob Weikert as part of his farm on Taneytown Road in 1840, which included the southeast slope of Little Round Top; and a 29-acre tract purchased by Ephraim Hanaway in 1858 including most of the north and west slope of Little Round Top to east of Plum Run. The tract of land including the marshy bottom land along Plum Run at the western foot of Little Round Top was attached to a 41-acre property owned by John Houck, who lived in town and likely used the valley and the ridge to its west (later known as Houck's Ridge) as pasture.

"Critical to the battle, the Bushman and Weikert tracts on the east slopes of Little Round Top were wooded in July 1863, but the Hanaway tract had been mostly cleared of trees opening the view from the summit of Little Round Top over Houck's Ridge and the ground lying to its north and west (Figure 2.08). This unobstructed view is what made Little Round Top a desirable signal station for the Union Army as it took up its position south of Gettysburg on the evening of July 1st and early morning hours of July 2nd."
