Know that their records were lost during war, however I have a letter where a private says his worst fighting was at Vicksburg. Have nothing prior to Charleston, Il riot of 3-28-1864.
Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum from MinneSNOWta and one who has a relative in the 126th Ill Infantry. The two links I am giving you are a great starting point as well as the O.R. It appears that the 54th and 126th were together in some of the areas of service based on the reginmental history; Helena, Clarendon, DeValls Bluff in Arkansas and Humboldt in TN as well as Vicksburg.
