ehhh...this is another ambiguous question. There isn't just 1 right answer.
Off the top of my head I can think of at least 2 confederate generals related to past presidents through marriage.
Most Famously, Robert E. Lee's Wife Mary Custis, whos father was George Washington Parke Custis, the step-son of General Washington.

In addition, Mary Todd Lincoln's brother, General Benjamin Hardin Helm was also related to a president through marriage...Abraham Lincoln.

There are others as well I believe. But imo, no one who put either of these should be counted as wrong.

Edit - As indicated in other posts, I do not agree that Helm should be counted as a correct answer, because Lincoln was not a past president.

Robert E Lee married Mary Anna Randolph Custis (1808–73), great-granddaughter of Martha Washington through her first husband Daniel Parke Custis, and step-great-granddaughter of George Washington (1st President of the US.) Born in 1781, George Washington Parke Custis was the grandson of Martha Dandridge Custis Washington through her first marriage. After his natural father, John Parke Custis, died in 1781, G.W.P. Custis went to live at Mount Vernon where George and Martha Washington raised him as their own son. During his childhood, Custis became very attached to his stepfather, George Washington. In 1802, Custis started the construction of Arlington House on land that he had inherited from his natural father. When completed in 1818, he intended the house to serve as not only a home but also a memorial to his stepfather, George Washington. In 1804, Custis married Mary Lee Fitzhugh. The two had four children, but only one, Mary Anna Randolph Custis, survived.

Gen. R.E.Lee's wife Mary Curtis was President George Washington's grand daughter - this is the answer I was given. I had a feeling this question might have more than one answer. So I will turn to @hoosier for scoring.

Edit - Most of our players answered that Mary Custis was the step great-granddaughter, rather than the granddaughter of George Washington, and there are sources to support that, so that will be accepted as a correct answer. Of course, since the official correct answer is that Mary was Washington's granddaughter, anyone who gave that answer will also get credit for a correct answer.

I'm also accepting Daniel Donelson and Jefferson Davis as correct answers.

Something nobody thought of is that if Marse Robert was maritally related to George Washington, then so were his sons Custis and Rooney, both of whom were also Confederate generals.
