The company that made hardtack for the Union Army in the Civil War still produces hardtack. What is the name of this company?

Bonus Question:
What was the name given to an unusual carrier of secret information?

bonus question credit: @Northern Light

G. H. Bent Company a.k.a. Bent's Cookie factory in Milton MA.

Bent's Cookie Factory

Edit - Correct. Bent's Cookie Factory is another name by which the G. H. Bent Company is known.

And since you submitted the bonus question, you get credit for the two points bonus as well.

G H Bent Co. (also known as Bent's Cookie Factory) in Milton, Mass

Bonus Q:
Not completely certain what you're looking for here? The most "unusual carrier of secret information" I know of is the elusive "rectal acorn." :D Apparently it was a hollow, acorn shaped vessel into which secret messages, orders, etc could be inserted. The "acorn" was then inserted into.......well you know :nah disagree:.......where it remained until the intended destination was reached. Not sure if that's the answer you were after but its too good not to share. :bounce:

The G.H. Bent Company of Milton, Mass. in business still today, since 1801.

Bonus: Black dispatches. No, wait. That can't be right as it's not "an unusual carrier".

Frank Thompson was the name of an unusual carrier of secret information and was, in reality, Sarah Emma Edmonds, author of Nurse and Spy in the Union Army.

The company that made and still makes hardtack is the G. H. Bent Company.

As for the unusual carrier of secret information, that's a toughie. Best I can come up with is "Cigar wrapper," after the document that bore Lee's orders prior to the Battle of Antietam (Sharpsburg).
