Augustus Beckmann, Co F of the 2nd Texas Infantry was buried under the wrong name 154 years ago now lies under a corrected headstone at Camp Chase Confederate Cemetery.
A. Beckmann was buried under the previous stone 2140, which identified him as A. Bergman, Co. C, Texas Rangers.
A. Beckmann was mortally wounded in the Battle of Shiloh on April 7, 1862, and was taken prisoner and died a month later. He was eventually buried in the historic cemetery on Sullivant Avenue on the West Side.
