2nd D.C. Volunteers

Hi all,

I am wondering if anyone knows what Company/Regiment this might be? I haven't come across 'D.C. Volunteers' before, but it seems they may have been stationed at Fairfax C.H. early in 1864, probably as part of the Army of the Potomac. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Here is a website with a brief synopsis of various DC regiments. Unfortunately, no "DC Volunteers" by name.

Suppose this was the 2nd District of Columbia Infantry Regiment. In 64 it belonged to the 22nd Corps and therefore the Washington Defences / District of Alexandria, so that would fit, too.

Thanks for that. It was mentioned in a soldier's letter, but it can be hard to get further information unless you can pin it down to a Regiment. I will check out the link.
