2nd Connecticut Heavy Artillery Regiment

The regiment was organised in 1863 and was placed on garrison duty in the forts around Washington DC. It first saw field duty in the overland campaign. The heaviest losses suffered seem to be at the Battle at Cold Harbour when they attacked the entrenched confederate line. The regiment of mustered out in August of 1865.
