I would be very grateful if someone with access to Fold3 would look up any records of J. T. Blackwell, 29th Texas Cavalry. I missed out on the latest Fold3 free look-up period, and I'm trying to find out if J. T. Blackwell is the same person as my wife's great-great grandfather, Jesse Thomas Blackwell. I'd be much obliged for any help.

As requested, @Lampasas Bill.

Thanks a lot, 7th Texas, for the speedy reply. Unfortunately, this J. T. Blackwell is not our Jesse Thomas Blackwell. Our Jesse served in Capt. John Dix's company H, Texas Frontier Regiment from March 8, 1862, to Feb. 14, 1863. Ruling out any additional service helps a lot.

Muchas gracias, amigo.

Por supuesto, hermano.

Anything for a neighbor to the north.

(Blanco/Comal County here.)

Thanks for the additional information. Blackwell seems to be quite a common name! What book did those lists come from?

You bet!

They are the Texas volumes of Broadfoot's by name/by unit rosters pulled from the CSR's.

You can still find them new/old stock in plastic online/etc.

New info: The Frontier Regiment was transferred to Confederate service in late 1863 -- so there's probably no Confederate record of your ancestor; he'll only be in militia records.

Thanks. That's what I've found so far. I was just checking to see if he was later drafted by the CSA. So far no evidence of that.
