Found a few sites that list it as the 44th Indiana. Can't say i'm sold as to who they are.

Found a few sites that list it as the 44th Indiana. Can't say i'm sold as to who they are.

I looked a bit closer at the high res copy of the photo, noticed there was something written on the bottom, and if you reverse it (how the photographer saw it) then "21 Michigan Regt" is actually written there on the bottom left hand corner.

There are a few other images out there of the 9th and 44th Indiana Infantry taken around the same area, so probably got confused with this one.
