He was the only Congressman killed in the Civil War

Edit - I thought that there might have been a U.S. Representative killed during the war. If there had been, your answer would be wrong. But as far as I can find, Baker was the only member of Congress, Senator or Representative, to be killed, so your answer is OK.

Umm, I'm not 100% sure and have never answered a trivia question here before but I'm going to take a guess...

Wasn't he a senator at the time of his death? The only Union Senator to die? Also, didn't hundreds of his men die? Hmm.
Okay, that was more questions than answers...lol... Okay, here goes..

He was the only standing (seated? not sure the term) senator to die in battle.

If I am wrong.........

Edit - Correct, honeybeeisme (and thank you for clarifying what you wanted to be considered as your final answer).

Welcome to the trivia game. Hope you'll come back and play again.

The correct answer is that he was the only sitting United States Senator to be killed in the American Civil War.
