An unidentified soldier in Union sergeant major's uniform with gauntlets and forage cap of the 206th Pennsylvania Infantry
If the unit identification is correct, this man is definitely Hugh Brady, who was promoted to Sergeant Major on 9 September 1864. He had enlisted in Company F as a sergeant on 27 August 1864, and mustered out with his regiment on 26 June 1865. Brady previously served in Company A, 61st Pennsylvania and was discharged after being wounded at Fair Oaks. He reenlisted in the 57th Pennsylvania before serving in the 206th. I made this identification based on the regiment having only one Sergeant Major during its service.
