1st Sgt. James Mitchell, 95th Ohio

I found another veteran today. I happened upon his well-marked grave on the way to visit someone else. I have probably walked past him a dozen times without noticing him. I found him in the unit roster. He was captured at Brice's Crossroads and imprisoned at Andersonville and other Confederate prisons. No date of death is given. How he happened to come to Boonville, Missouri I have no idea. That also raises the question of whether he knew Col. Black Bob McCulloch, also buried in the same cemetery. I don't know enough about the battle to know how McCulloch might have been involved, but he was one of the most famous people in Boonville (if not the whole state) after the war. It seems that Mitchell would have at least known him by reputation.
