On May 2, 1863, Confederate Gen. Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson was accidentally wounded by his own men at the Battle of Chancellorsville in Virginia. The Confederate forces won the battle, but the loss of Gen. Jackson greatly damaged their war efforts.
