Greetings to all,

I bought this purse the other day it is very similar to the French Brevete coin purses, mine however has no makings at all. It could be pre 1860's or post. I don't know, didn't find to much online. I thought it was kinda cute though. When I opened the purse I found an 1863 Patriotic Token Coin inside, got that one for free.

Thought I'd share.

Regards

Very nice indeed. The designs and styles were an endless array but the materials show here were common of the period. I have seen what I think is referred to as the Red "Russian Leather" on many known period examples. I have a period gentleman's wallet (belonged to Col Warren of the 10th Va Inf) that has the same type of leather interior. Nice find.

I found this in Missouri,

Frederick, would it be possible to upload some pics of your wallet. It's always great to have an artifact that can be traced to an owner.
